Falling into Pieces
I should have listened
the whole afternoon;
instead, the clock
broke its arms.
Knives flew back
and forth off our tongues --
word by word – another
life of the cat could be extinguished.
The whole night
I've been restless
to decipher
which blade was
the sharpest,
the most bitter.
from her book “Wings Toward Sunlight” (Mosaic press 2011)
