The Surge

you hesitated then turned

on the path that you once

thought was the only way

 

I whispered wait

only the shoreline replied

 

waves upon the bank cutting

the fabric of my being

changing the pattern with

ripples coaxed into swells

 

this moment had no

chance in the present

 

moonbeams weakly sought

shelter of the shadows

the owl stunned into silence
