Cindy Rinne - Artist and Poet
Six Poems by Cindy Rinne
Cindy Rinne is an artist who explores fiber media; her works are colorful and tactile, employing collage, poetry, and a touch of whimsy.
“To experiment is at first more valuable than to produce; free play in the beginning develops courage.” Josef Albers
"The concepts for my mixed media textile art works often begin with nature walks, my poetry, a spiritual experience, an exploration of materials, my life story or an observation of other people’s stories.
Each fiber work is its own journey. I use many different materials to create mixed media textile art. People give me pieces of their past in fabrics, vintage buttons and laces so each art work represents community. There are layers revealing destruction, change and beginnings. Thread is drawn free-form like paint on canvas. Drawing and painting with markers, inks and paints brings the individual work of my hand. Additional layers of embellishment and hand embroidery add texture and dimension. This is a connective process that creates a whole out of pieces."
Tina's Dress. It is 16x10" of vintage fabrice, linen, paper, beads, cotton, marker. It is part of the Ghost Fish Series which will be featured at Buddhamouse Emporium in Claremont, CA in April 2014.
