Three Poems by Maria Elena B. Mahler
From - Maria Elena B. Mahler
"I have traveled and lived all over the Americas, literally from the South Pole to the North Pole. I suffer from an intrinsic planetary condition that urges me to move and change. My many temporary homes and the wonderful friends who have joined my path have deeply inspired me to write about them and my many experiences in the beauty of this multi-cultural world. There are many other worlds, but while I’m on this one I can only express myself with a combination of vowels and consonants concerning the many lives I have shared and learned from.
I was born in Valdivia, Chile, which is close to the South Pole. Everyone in my family is still there. My parents gave me wings, especially my mother.
As soon as I graduated with a degree in communications from the university in Santiago, I took my first job in Mexico City. This temporary working experience ended up lasting almost fifteen years. I later moved to the coast of Oaxaca where I married and had a beautiful son. Years later, my son and I moved to northern Mexico to start a new life together, where I met my second husband, Stephen. We’ve been blissfully together for over ten years. I’ve also lived in almost every province of Canada before moving under the desert sun in Southern California."
