The Japanese Red Maple II – Fallen In The Frost

Yes, as always, trusting -
we took our chances -
long before we met the chill
of your frozen heart, we were all
bright red sunsets gathered together
to end your day in splendored shades of light -
and so, see how we lie here, half
naked, still shivering on the damp cold clay -
knowing we will never
be lifted up again
to your now
bare and empty branches -
will never again know 
the warm breezes
that pleased you so -
will never again
come rustling so easily to your windswept wayward play.
