Beauty is more lovely
half-veiled.
Don't give it all away.
Let there be a portion of your silence
that falls into deeper silence.
Be like the new moon
pulling on a garden from within.
The mystery of an azure moth
disappearing on blue chicory,
seen only by one whose
gaze has been polished by waiting.
Cocoon your revelation.
This is the way of wings.
Astonishing colors begin
with starlight in dew
on lilac leaves at midnight.
Discretion of a cloud
reflected on a forest pond,
there, and not there.
The age of restraint,
the discipline of intimacy,
beginning in our eyes, my love,
my sister, pilgrim friend,
as we bend blind beams
of wanting into the rainbow
of a subtler body, chiaroscuro
of prudence and delight.
Let there be a renaissance
of veils, fashioning our fierce
eternal fire into the sweetness
of this moment on earth.
Tempered, let me touch
the bright erotic darkness
of your soul.
