IN BANFF
The wind has been tickling the aspens
all morning. They dodge and shiver.
They can hardly stand it.
Scent of snow off the sudden mountain
and the magpie probes the grass for breakfast.
Last night’s opera in my mind, even
my stride is satisfied.
Air thin, aroma of pine, this place
the backstreets of my mind.
