                           ON THE CHINESE SCROLL

 

 

                           a man in a boat

                           moves upstream toward

                           mountains—mist, with his

                           thin back bent, as he

                           faces the water

                           that flows from the hills

                           to the downstream pool

                           where he casts his thread-

                           slender line, alone.
