The front cover of In My Father’s House Are Many Mansions, includes an impressionistic art image of St. John Lutheran Church in the township of Easton, Kansas. Saint Julian Press offers a special acknowledgement and Thanksgiving to the church as a Christian community of faith and believers.
 
We created and designed the book's cover from an original photograph taken by Kelly Taylor–Mailen, on a snowy winter's day. Kelly’s family has a long history with Saint John Lutheran Church. She is the granddaughter of Austin and LaVerne “Kruse” Potter – lifelong members of the community and church; Lauren Ashley Brownell and Amy Schwinn took the other lovely photographs. Amy is another granddaughter of Austin and LaVerne Potter. They both grew up in the township, and their families still live in the area. 
 
St. John Lutheran Church is the House of God, where Robert and Edna Starbuck were married in 1948. It is where my mother, Edna Meinert–Starbuck, received her baptism and confirmation in the church. And it is where her parents in 1920, and her grandparents in 1883 were married. Not too far away is the farm where my mother and her siblings grew up. German-Lutheran immigrants to America founded St. John Lutheran Church in 1880. St. John is a place where extended family and relatives still gather on Sunday mornings and special occasions to worship.
