The moment has no mercy 
for beauty nor for elegance
perfection transforms
into a distorted image
 
Shards pierce
the flesh of reason
and the mind bleeds.  
 
Dreams are mirrors
when shattered you are left 
with a thousand fragments 
to sweep off the floors
 
Yet among the pain 
if you stand still for a moment
the thousand pieces
stare back at you
 
Each holding now 
the image of a new whole.
