Present Is Beyond
At funeral after funeral,
Africa’s hottest sun
fails to warm them.
Piercing through their hollow eyes,
wistful winds shake their thin limbs.
Life, a striving skill
with nothing to grasp, so
”PRAY!”

Anna Yin is the author of the recently published poetry collection “Wings Toward Sunlight” (Mosaic press 2011).
Anna Yin, IT Geek and poet, was born in China, and immigrated to Canada in 1999. Her passion for poetry bloomed after coming to North America. She won the 2005 Ted Plantos Memorial Award and 2010 MARTY Award for her poetry. In 2011 her book “Wings Toward Sunlight” was published by Mosaic Press. She is a member of the League of Canadian Poets. Her Poetry Alive events have been a new approach to help people explore and appreciate poetry.
