MCGRATH ~ POET
T W O
They come
and go and trespass
Freighted with desire,
Young women of the spring
In their summer dresses.
Crocus yellow, hyacinth
Their golden shoulders bare,
A green text burning
Sweet upon their lips.
A mysterious and complex grace
The pleasure of your smile,
The girl in you pretending
That you are not alone.
Be with me beside you now
With the futureճ breath,
In our sleep we shall resist
And admire the fugitive,
We shall complete the world.
I I - 2
The
nature of my love is this
I witness you as no other,
When you are mine to hold
Refining our warm volume.
I love your bones and your smell
A scent of leaves and rain,
At the hollows of your joints
My hands confess their love.
Asleep with you I have no
Other place on earth to visit,
You are all world and home
Ground where life sets out.
What more is there in time
For us to know, what else
Can human love accomplish,
In you I touch an absolute.
I brush your lips with my tongue
Breathe in your exhaled breath,
Deep inside we perceive
What no one else observes.
