The Night Garden
The night sky opens.
Her dark chocolate branches
stretch, her moon face floats
and stars brim crystal wine.
For years, we’ve waited.
Tides chime and fish submerge.
Lush forest and plump fruits scent.
The maze, tangled
with raspberries and thorns,
now is clear.
Through an arch to the centre
a silver river beckons,
and what do we fear?
What opens is open,
what does not open,
heaven will rain.
We have
come this far
and
find each other
closer
then
burst
into
blossoms
in this night garden.
