Our Feelings Are Like a House
Sometimes our
feelings
are like a house,
observed by strangers
who knock on the door.
Those who adore us will stay,
fear not our original look.
Those who dislike us wish
they could bring their own brush
for a brisk touchup.
It is hard to stay neutral to please,
especially among cold
faces.
I tried it once, tinted in light salmon--
at night, with doors closed,
I exploded into fire.
Now the house is in renovation,
I hesitate, I wait.
