Painting and Printmaking, University of New Orleans, New Orleans, LA Keith Perelli is an artist working in painting and printmaking
with a specialization in monotype painting. His figurative mixed media work
focuses on socio-political and personal themes of conflict and discord. He is a
native of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA and teaches painting and drawing at New
Orleans Center for Creative Art, a pre-college conservatory for the arts. In
addition to seven solo exhibitions in New Orleans, he has had solo exhibitions
at Found Gallery Los Angeles, California and Nau-haus
Art Space, Houston, Texas. His work
has been featured internationally in Innsbruck, Austria by invitation of the
University of New Orleans, and in Italy in the cities of Como and Milan by
invitation of Artist Alan Kaprow and the Ratti Foundation. His work was also featured in “Culture of
Queer,” Leslie Lohman Foundation, New York, NY and an
exhibit titled “Hurricane Katrina, Catastrophe and Catharsis,” at the Fine Arts
Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado by invitation of Arthur Roger Gallery. He
was awarded a commission for a public works project on Canal Street in New
Orleans in 2010. Mr. Perelli has received numerous grants and Individual
Fellowships from the SURDNA Foundation, Louisiana Division of the Arts and Ratti Foundation. He has studied with artists Alan Kaprow and Ron Pokrasso through
fellowship awards. A mid-career survey of his work was exhibited at the
Alexandria Museum of Art in Louisiana in the summer of 2012. His work was
featured in book created in Tianjin, China in 2012 as part of a collection of
American Contemporary figurative realism. In 2013 A
traveling exhibit of the artist’s paintings and prints were exhibited in a show
titled “of Paper and Paint; The figurative work of Keith Perelli
at Gallery 308 Munice, Indiana, Southeastern
University in Hammond Louisiana and The Issac Delgado
Museum in New Orleans in 2014. |

The artist Keith Perelli
describes Tread, as a post hurricane Katrina image that explores mans tenuous
relationship with nature. It's of great importance here as we live and harvest
on the water’s edge in New Orleans. |
