Space Invaders
 
 
My body homes itinerant ghosts--
stretched, like a long story,

shapeshifting as it becomes itself,
bends end to means to end 

where I begin, inside my mother,
pushing toward release. Ghosts of gut-
 
level fear in the forming face,
of afterbirth, shed in the final stage
 
of delivery. Antsy ghosts, aghast
at the last taste of first blood,
 
mouth a legacy of maternal ancestors--
a line they know now dies
 
with me, curved on the floor in balasana. 
Mama, mama.
 
Ghosts of the amnion, breaking.
