SUZANNE NUSSEY
Saint Julian Press Poet
Poems from SLOW WALK HOME
Metamorphosis
In nova fert animus
mutatas dicere formas corpora
I thought I saw
everything
but you turned
when I was not looking
your face fixed
like a wax museum doll
your eyes naked as a fish
unfathomable dull
Now I cannot find
you to say
farewell so
I sing
of the shape shifting
creatures you once loved
We all turn
into something else
Watch me
slip my skin
and swim away
In nova fert animus
mutatas dicere formas corpora
I thought I saw
everything
but you turned
when I was not looking
your face fixed
like a wax museum doll
your eyes naked as a fish
unfathomable dull
Now I cannot find
you to say
farewell so
I sing
of the shape shifting
creatures you once loved
We all turn
into something else
Watch me
slip my skin
and swim away
