Young aspen leaves
tell everything
 
full crows’ nest high
in the ponderosa raucous
 
ripe dirty silver clouds
stray southeast
 
Any thought at all means trouble

Moon 
              clouds
 
did you arise from the Santa Inés
to climb Grass Mountain
 
river 
              stars
 
the stick feels how deep
diamond willow

Of The Politburo One Two Three Four
 
Eye blossom June flowers all over town
sweeten slight gray mist drizzle
 
government documents scuff up
a polished morning for awhile
 
it’s a kingdom of shadows alright
Bob Dylan rasps an oldie
 
I’ll stay right here and watch the river flow

High Hopes For The Ceremonial Toasts
Of The Vice Chairman And Red Pine
 
Moonlit Li Po cook Big Stick
maybe a few shimmers in my cup
 
I hope the Vice Chairman has a taste
for Red Pine’s old whiskey
 
wouldn’t it be good if he turned
to the tiger in the room and smiled
